Acta Obstetricia et Gynecologica Scandinavica is the journal of the Nordic Federation of Societies of Obstetrics and Gynecology and was founded in 1921. The journal has during the recent years undergone a series of changes and is from 2013 published mainly electronically to meet the challenge of the future. Due to the retirement of the present Chief Editor, the position as Chief Editor will be vacant from July 1st, 2015 for a period of 4 years with a possibility for extension. The position will be appointed no earlier than Jan 1st and no later than July 1st 2015, after discussion with the applicants.

The Chief Editor will be expected to advance the position of the journal in collaboration with the associate editors and the publishing house and with the support of the Nordic Federation of Societies of Obstetrics and Gynecology. The applicant should be a professionally active gynecologist/obstetrician with documented scientific and literary experience. Prospective applicants should be prepared to devote the equivalent of approximately 50 % of a full-time position to the journal. The Nordic Federation of Societies of Obstetrics and Gynecology will compensate this loss of income; the conditions for this compensation will be discussed with the applicants.

Applicants are requested to include a written policy statement regarding measures to advance the international standing of the journal. In addition, applicants should provide documentation to support their applications and qualifications. Deadline for applications is May 15th 2014.
